About the Catalog

Since the foundation of the archive we keep a comprehensive catalog containing all items kept in the archive for the purposes of Accessibility. Most of our clients require specific sections and films which are searchable using Abstracts and Key-words.

During the 1980’s the manual ticket based catalog was computerized using the Aleph system. The retroactive cataloging project was completed within 10 years; since then, all new films that the archive intakes are immediately put in to the computerized catalog.

In 2021 the catalog program was updated to Primo, which allowed more efficient organization of the digital items.

The catalog is completely available online.

Furthermore, the archive contains hundreds of documents regarding Hebrew films belonging to the Matis collection which have been digitized and will eventually be available via the catalog.

In addition, the archive provides a large collection of online films. These films can be views through our Virtual cinema.
